WWE Raw Recap (25th September 2017)

As we found out at at No Mercy Miz TV opens the show. Miz runs down Jason Jordan before he introduces Roman Reigns. Miz bigs up Reigns retiring Undertaker and beating Cena. Reigns says that he is proud of beating Cena and has been out partying, so he wants to know why he is talking to an idiot like the Miz. Miz says that he is the guy because he is the IC champion. Reigns wants the Miztourage to get him a beer. Miz says that Reigns rode the coattails of the Shield and that Miztourage is better than the Shield. Reigns is amused by that statement. Miz calls Reigns a choker, Reigns wants to fight. Miz says that he is wearing a suit so he's not dressed to fight. Angle shows up and books a tag match. This was a solid way to open the show. Cocky Reigns is the best Reigns.

Matt Hardy & Jason Jordan vs Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel - Jeff Hardy is out because of his shoulder injury. A solid opening match but nothing out of the ordinary. The faces win when Matt pins Dallas following a Twist of Fate.

Elias vs Apollo Crews - This was a short and inoffensive match. Thankfully they didn't go to the 50/50 booking and Elias won again. After the match Titus ran Elias off.

Finn Balor is interviewed and he says that he is done with Wyatt and wants his Universal Title back.

Curt Hawkins vs Braun Strowman - Hawkins talks about his 118 match losing streak and says that it ends today. He invites anybody in the back to come out and immediately regrets it. Hawkins runs away but Braun catches him. He chokeslams him through a table and powerslams him through the LED board. Braun wants real competition though.

Braun Strowman vs Dean Ambrose - This was a decent enough match with Ambrose getting a decent amount of offense in before his inevitable loss. You might ask why anyone would want to fight Braun but Ambrose is crazy.

Enzo meets with Angle. He wants a celebration tonight. Angle doesn't think he deserves one but agrees to it anyway. He offers Enzo some advice but Enzo is a prick and wants none of it.

Rollins tells Ambrose that he wishes he wasn't so self destructive. Ambrose says that Rollins is too predictable. Rollins says he will ask for a match with Braun next week. Rollins is an idiot.

Alexa Bliss is out to talk about her victory. She is disappointed that there were no memes of her win. She is sick of people talking about Sasha & Bayley and the debut of Asuka. Alexa says that she has cleared out the entire women's divisio. Mickie James comes out and takes umbrage. Mickie says she heard Alexa talking smack about her on Raw Talk and asks if he has the guts to say it to her face. Alexa makes some references to Myspace and Mickie being old. Mickie says that she is a 6 time women's champion and broke down barriers for women like Alexa. Alexa calls her an old lady so Mickie beats her ass. Decent enough segment and it should lead to a short title program while we wait for Asuka to murder everyone.

Seth Rollins vs Sheamus - Cesaro is at ringside despite having his teeth forcefully removed the previous night. This was short but it was fun while it lasted. Rollins picked up the win with the ripcord knee.

Balor runs into Goldust, who is besmirched at Balor treating him like a victim. Balor apologises so Goldust attacks him anyway.

We get highlights of the Reigns vs Cena match and Cena saying that the torch has been passed.

Roman Reigns vs The Miz - This was another solid match. Miz hung around for a decent amount of time before finally succumbing to superhero Reigns.  Following the match the Miztourage attacks Reigns with chairs, allowing Miz to hit the Skull Crushing Finale. Miz grabs a chair and beats Reigns some more, hitting another Skull Crushing Finale, this time onto the chair. The Miztourage then do the Shield fist bump. Are we really going to get Miztourage vs Shield? That seems massively one sided.

Finn Balor vs Goldust - The match was fine but I would have liked Balor to get the win a bit quicker as a way of getting him back on track following the Wyatt feud.

Ignore what I just said. After the match we hear the kids singing 'he's got the whole world in his hands'. Wyatt doesn't show up but it doesn't appear that we are done with that feud. Why? Who gains anything from it? Not me, that's for sure.

Sasha Banks & Bayley have a chat about costing each other the title. There's some tension but Bayley says they need to work together tonight.

Enzo says he wants a no contact clause because he fears the 205 Live roster might fuck him up.

Sasha Banks & Bayley vs Nia Jax & Emma - This was serviceable but nothing better than that. The faces won when Bayley pinned Emma.

It's time for Enzo's championship celebration. Enzo comes out and talks shit. He says he's gonna retire his jersey cuz he did the impossible and made 205 Live relevant. The rest of the cruiserweights come to the stage. Enzo runs them down but Neville has heard enough and makes his way to the ring. Enzo makes fun of him but Neville isn't in any mood for his shit. Neville tells him that he is a toxic person that has driven away everyone that he has met because he's a prick. He says that the only reason Enzo is still here is because the wrestlers of 205 Live were willing to give him a chance and now he is treating them like shit. Neville says he will end Enzo, but Enzo tells him that if he has a no contact contract signed by Angle and if he touches him he won't get his hands on the contract again. Neville doesn't care and beats the shit out of Enzo. He throws him into his framed jersey and runs him into the barricade repeatedly. He tries to run but the other cruiserweights are having none of that. Neville beats him some more and hits the Red Arrow.  Enzo has gone full arsehole, which makes sense because he was already an unlikable prick. They could go a few different ways with Neville. They could have him turn face to save the division or they could use this to push him into the heavyweight division. It was actually a good segment. I'm still not sure that putting the title on Enzo is a good idea but hopefully they can build on this.

Overall Thoughts

This was a decent Raw. The wrestling was solid and there wasn't anything that was horrible. It was really weird to see the cruiserweights in the main event slot though. Hopefully it's a turnaround for them but I reserve judgment on that.

Extra: After the show Strowman came out and beat up Enzo, he then told the rest of the cruiserweights that he was all their's. They proceeded to beat the living piss out of him. It's never not fun to see Enzo get slaughtered.
