WWE Smackdown Recap (26th September 2017)

Kevin Owens starts off the show. He says he has been called a coward for what he did but he is here now. He says that he respects and likes Vince McMahon so imagine what he'll do to someone he doesn't like or respect. Sami Zayn turns up to tell Owens that he has snapped and he needs to sort himself out before it affects his life. Owens says that Sami isn't here to talk sense into him, he is just jealous of everything he has accomplished. Sami calls Owens a big piece of trash. Daniel Bryan comes out and says that Shane isn't here but there will be a match between Owens and Zayn tonight. Good opening segment. Owens is just a fantastic heel.

Baron Corbin vs Tye Dillinger - This was an average match. It continued the story surrounding the US Title but it wasn't very good from an in ring standpoint. Corbin won by countout. Corbin claims that Styles & Dillinger are in cahoots and says that Styles can't beat him one on one. He challenges Styles to a match at Hell In A Cell.

Jinder Mahal is out. He says that he may have gone too far last week. He says he will compliment him this week. He doesn't, obviously. He shows pictures of Nakamura again, which is as stupid as ever, but the final image isn't a picture, it's a video. Nakamura has finally had enough. He heads down to the ring and takes out both the Singh brothers on his way. Mahal attacks and briefly gets the upper hand but Nakamura hits the Kinshasa and stands tall. Mahal continues to be trash in these promos but at least Nakamura did something about it this week.

Usos vs Hype Bros - This was a short match that furthered the Hype Bros split storyline. Mojo tagged himself in, to the dismay of Ryder, and the Usos picked up the win. As they should.

After the match the Usos and New Day get into a back and forth and New Day say that the title match will be inside Hell In A Cell. I am happy with this decision. This has been the best in ring feud in WWE this year and this will be a great finish to it.

Rusev is here for a Pride of Bulgaria Celebration. Aiden English is the host of the ceremony and sings the Bulgarian national anthem. The mayor of Plovdiv gives Rusev the key to the city and declares it Rusev Day. Rusev relives last week's win over Orton. English sings a song to the tune of Orton's entrance music. Orton appears and hits an RKO outta nowhere on English before hitting one on Rusev. This was pretty entertaining, the writers deserve some credit for making something half decent out of Aiden English.

Daniel Bryan and Sami Zayn meet and Bryan says that Shane is on his way and will go after Owens. Sami asks Bryan to convince Shane to let him have this moment.

Orton asks Renee to tell Rusev he will see him at HIAC, when he wakes up.

Charlotte Flair vs Carmella - This was an okay match. The finish was decent. Charlotte won with the big boot.

After the match Natalya said Charlotte is overrated and she looks forward to humiliating her at HIAC.

The Fashion Files is back next week.

Dolph Ziggler comes out as the Undertaker. He says the fans are stupid for thinking that they would see Undertaker twice in a year. Anyone can wear a costume but nobody can do what he can do in the ring. Bobby Roode comes out and says that he and Dolph have a lot in common, they both demand respect in the ring. He challenges him to a match at HIAC. Dolph runs down Roode's robe and entrance and says that his ring skills aren't on his level. Roode says it will be glorious. It was fine. It got Roode a match.

Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn - Really good main event, which is not a surprise at all. They went through a back and forth match before Owens won via referee stoppage after he powerbombed Sami on the apron.

After the match Owens continued to attack Sami, wrapping a chair around his neck. Shane makes his way down, sprinting down the ramp, but Owens throws Sami into him. Owens then runs away through the crowd.

Overall Thoughts

This was a solid enough episode of Smackdown. Much better than last week that's for sure. The main event was great and a couple of the segments were entertaining. Overall this show did a good job of building to Hell In A Cell.
